He has been engaged with issues related to human rights for much of his adult life after being influenced by the plight of abandoned children in Romania. He works professionally as a Nurse Practitioner in Emergency Medicine but devotes much of his time and energy to the work of his family's non profit organization, Foundation for Hope and Grace. Additionally, he has written three books, including his latest, Every Stone Has A Story, the story of Wreaths Across America, which was released in the Fall of 2015.

Ray has been married to his wife Dee Dee for over 30 years. They have four children and live in Westbrook.
